Welcome to the Community.
The Second Valley Progress Association aims to:
- Promote and foster the welfare of the residents and ratepayers of the locality;
- Provide for the support and general well-being and social life of the community;
- Preserve the environmental, historical and cultural heritage of the locality;
- Join with, assist and co-operate with local associations with similar objectives to promoting interest in the area
- Raise money by private subscriptions and public functions to be applied in carrying out the above aims.
In conjunction with the District Council of Yankalilla, we have established and maintained many projects in the area including the:
Beach access ramp and foreshore redevelopment
Historic Fanny Lipson Finniss statue
Shelter shed and playground equipment
The aim is to continue with improvements and developments whilst maintaining the friendly village atmosphere we all enjoy.
The Association is self-funded but we rely upon the continued support of our members together with small local government grants. Other areas of revenue are from an annual sausage sizzle, recycled bottles and cans and the Lions paper recycling shed under the pine trees opposite the playground.
In conjunction with Hall Committee, the Second Valley Soldiers Memorial Hall is available for hire by the community for private functions etc. This community building is the social centre of the district and plays host to a variety of functions including Table Tennis, Second Valley Progress Association meetings, community meetings and special events. The Association communicates its information via this website and via a community notice board situated opposite the Second Valley Jetty Store.
We look forward to you enjoying your time in the area and appreciate any assistance that you may wish to offer or ideas on progressing improvements in the future.
As an Incorporated body the Second Valley Progress Association holds an Annual General Meeting each year. At the AGM we call for the committee positions to be filled and all are welcome to participate. New people ensure new ideas are being introduced each year.
Membership fees are set by members at the Annual General Meeting.
